Dr Hafez is a leading independent arbitrator. Over a career spanning three decades, he has served in a wide range of complex cases across the three principal areas of arbitral practice — commercial, construction, and investment. His sectoral experience is both extensive and deep. His practice is global in scope, with particular emphasis on disputes connected to Africa and the Middle East. He handles cases in Arabic, English, and French. He was educated in Cairo, Cambridge, and Harvard. His PhD, from the University of Cambridge, is for a dissertation entitled Complex Arbitration.
